Spartan PRIDE
Supporting our school community core values.
Enjoy the Memorial Day Weekend! It looks like we finally have weather we can all enjoy. Next week 6th grade students will be taking the annual Fishing Derby Trip to Iron Creek on Wednesday. Otherwise, we are anticipating another week of classroom learning. Our students are beginning to see the end is near. Please encourage your child to finish strong!
Be sure to check out the summer math opportunity below. Also see the READ South Dakota link included on the right side of this blog page. This is great way to keep your child reading this summer!
I would like all who have donated items and/or money for the End of Year Celebration. We have received everything on our list expect the two items listed below. $600 has been donated to cover the cost of pizza. Any additional funds donated will be used to off-set the cost of a veggie/fruit bag provided with the lunch.

Children are apt to live up to what you believe of them.
-Lady Bird JohnsonDear Parent/Guardian,
Research shows that most students lose 2--3 months of grade level math equivalency over the summer. We’re delighted to inform you about a free program offered by the Spearfish School District and TenMarks Education that will provide your child with access to a powerful, personalized summer math program designed to help them reverse summer learning loss.
The program is called TenMarks Summer Math Program and here is how it works.
1. Starting April 15, 2014, you can visit http://summer.tenmarks.com and sign up.
Please use Summer Access Code: 32531
2. Before summer break, you’ll receive an email with access details for your child and for you
– to monitor his/her progress.
3. At the start of the program, your child will receive a short diagnostic assessment based on
the grade s/he is entering this fall.
4. The assessment will be automatically graded and TenMarks will create a personalized
program, designed for your child to prepare for the upcoming year.
5. You can create custom rewards to keep your child motivated – pizza, ice cream, or a trip to
the zoo! It’s all up to you!
An hour a week is all it takes for your child to strengthen his/her math skills, and prepare for
the year ahead. The TenMarks Summer Math Program will guide your child through their personalized
program, one topic at a time, helping them refresh what they know, and learn what they don’t. Each
assignment contains embedded instruction (hints, video lessons, and interventions) to help your
child refresh concepts from the past year and prepare for the ones ahead.
The 3 month program starts in the first week of June. To start, visit the URL below to register.
Please remember to type in your Access Code.
